The Past of Dotek-8 Empty The Past of Dotek-8

Dotek-8, Enginseer Prime of the D’Autry Dynasty, was born almost one hundred years ago on the Goliath Factory Ship MSS Heret Fyrd in the depths of the Calixis Sector. Immense as it was, it fashioned only three products, all related to the manufacture of Fury Interceptors. As the materials for the engines were rare, the Heret Fyrd traveled from mining world to mining world collecting resources all the while building the power plants that would later serve the Battlefleet. The two beings that participated in his creation were unknown to Dotek due to a crèche produced young adults prepared to take part in the work of the Mechanicus just as the assembly line turned out parts. It suited him just fine as such attachments were seen as detracting away from one’s occupation.

When he came of employment age, Dotek opted to undergo the Rites to join the Mechanicus proper. His aptitude with machine spirits was seen as having great promise and while he was seen as a runt, it was believed cybernetic replacement would overcome that obstacle. It was never doubted that Dotek belonged on a ship and thus for his many years he has continued to work from ship to ship. For a spell he served among the Imperial Navy but most of his work was with the civilian fleets that plied the Sector. He did not shy away from combat but rather the Imperial Navy seemed to offer fewer opportunities to explore.

It was halfway through his life that he understood that he was not simply a small human but abhuman and one that had largely been eradicated. It was difficult at first but he decided at that very moment of realization that he would have to end his quest of improvement through replacement. He has wondered often in the years since if he may be one of the last of his kind and whether or not he should seek out breeding. Conscious that he has at least another quarter century before he must make a decision, he is comfortable with continuing to weigh the options.

Six months ago, he was approached by an operative for House D’Autry looking to staff the Dynasty’s newest ship, the The Spirit of the Fissure. The Dynasty’s name was unfamiliar but the chance to work for a Rogue Trader seemed the most promising way to delve into secrets than he had received in the past. Using what influence he had within the Mechanicus, he was able to secure a reassignment to the Spirit and has secretly never regretted it. For all his bluster about tarnishing the blessed template, a part inside him screams at the falsehood of the sacristy of the STC and he takes hidden bliss in creating whole. In an irony that he finds amusing but he doesn’t share with his crewmates, he has noted how many of them are too the last of their kind. This endears them greatly to him even if he rarely will confirm that.

Dotek is short, standing a little over 127 centimeters from the top of his head with extensive external bionic modification to his neck and back. The upper half of his head has been replaced with metal due to several injuries in the course of his career. He has managed to keep the lower half from which he maintains a curled brown beard that comes down across his chest. He is rarely seen out of his robes of office from which a Utility Mechadendrite juts out from his upper back. When he deems to join the fray, he strides in carapace armor and hellgun with the Axe gifted to him for his long service with the Adeptus on his back.
